Most of what we lay is LVT, and most of that is herringbone. It is the pattern people want and it is the one that rewards doing properly — set out from the centre of the room, square to the walls, with the cuts landing evenly at both sides instead of a thin sliver down one edge. Alongside it: carpet and stairs, sheet vinyl and safety flooring, and wetrooms where the floor has to be genuinely watertight.
